Trompe l'oeil
A French term literally meaning to "trick/fool the eye" is used to give the appearance of three-dimensional or photographic realism.
Bookcase: The entertainment center has a Trompe l'oeil painting to conceal the TV in the client’s entertainment center.
Twisted Juniper: In order to accommodate the client's and designer’s desire to achieve an asymmetrical balance and to create a more dramatic look on the top of staircase in the entryway (which could not be done with a live juniper due to the closet door design), Carrie created the juniper by using a Trompe l'oeil painting technique. |
